How to claim a euromillions prize

Euromillions statistics - most common numbers & jackpot history

Remember the Basics

It seems obvious, but you cannot win EuroMillions without buying a ticket. Once you have bought your tickets, you know that you have a chance of winning that jackpot. You really do have to be in it to win it.

Similarly, you can’t collect a prize if you do not check your ticket. Make sure you use the EuroMillions Ticket Checker soon after the draw takes place to see whether you have matched any numbers and if you are due a prize.

The advantage of playing EuroMillions online is that you are notified of any prizes you win on your tickets, and you can’t lose or damage them because your numbers are digitally connected to you in your player account.

Win a Bigger Payout by Choosing Rarer Numbers

While it’s impossible to predict which numbers will be chosen in any given lottery drawing, picking certain numbers might have a slight advantage, not for your chances of winning, but for your payout.

If you win a lottery jackpot, there’s a chance you might have to split the payout with other people who picked the same numbers. So all things being equal (in that all numbers are equally likely to be picked), you might as well try to select rarer numbers to improve your odds of keeping more of the pot for yourself.

Millionaire Maker & HotPicks

UK ticket holders also have an additional chance to win £1 million thanks to the Millionaire Maker. Millionaire Maker is a supplementary game which is automatically included when you enter EuroMillions. You receive one code for every combination of EuroMillions numbers you play and it is all included in the cost of a ticket, so you do not need to do anything extra. A winning Millionaire Maker code is drawn alongside each main EuroMillions draw and if the code on your ticket matches the winning code exactly, you win. Special draws also take place from time to time which guarantee multiple winners.

EuroMillions HotPicks is a separate game, so it can be played on its own. Unlike Millionaire Maker, you need to opt in to play the game, which costs £1.50 per entry. HotPicks uses the five main numbers from the EuroMillions draw, and players can decide how many of the numbers they want to try and match. For example, you can choose to try and match just one number to win £10 or you can attempt to match all five for £1 million. The cost of entry is the same regardless of how many numbers you try and match. See the EuroMillions HotPicks page to learn more.

Playing Online

Playing online has become increasingly popular as it offers a number of advantages over buying a ticket from a retailer. For example, once you purchase your entries online, they are then stored in your account and cannot be lost, stolen or damaged unlike paper tickets. Plus you will be notified if you win, so you don’t even need to check the results.

If you’d like to play online, visit the EuroMillions Online page to get started.

Direct Debits

Another advantage of entering online is that National Lottery players can enter their lines on a continuous basis to ensure they never miss a draw. To set up a Direct Debit, follow these steps:

  • Step1

    Fill out an online playslip
Select your numbers, how many lines you wish to play and whether you want to take part in the Tuesday draw, the Friday draw, or both.

  • Step2

Choose to play ‘continuously by Direct Debit’
Rather than selecting the option to enter for a set number of weeks.

  • Step3

Submit your bank sort code and account number

The Direct Debit will take about four weeks to begin and you will then be entered automatically into your chosen draws. You will get a different Millionaire Maker entry for each draw.

You can make changes to your personal details, the numbers you want to use or the draws you wish to enter at any time by going to your account.

Don’t Miss a Lottery Win!

Double-Check Your Lottery Tickets So You Don’t Miss a Win.

Imagine winning a big jackpot—but missing out on your money because you forgot to double-check your numbers. It happens more often than you think.

For example, one MegaMillions lottery ticket worth nearly $300,000 was never claimed. Somewhere out there, there’s someone with no idea that they won, and lost, a huge prize. Don’t let that happen to you.

When you buy a lottery ticket, keep it somewhere where you can find it again easily. Jot down the drawing date and time in your calendar if you’re afraid you might forget it.

Check the numbers against your ticket, and double-check them, just to be sure. Also, make sure that you are looking at the numbers for the correct date.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST EURO MILLIONS NUMBERS

Treat EuroMillions as two separate lotteries. One is a pick-5 from 50 numbers; the other is
a pick-2 from 12 numbers. Advantage Gold
software tracks the histories of the Red Balls and the Lucky Star balls in two separate files,
which treats them like two separate drawings, each having its own set of charts to make it easy to strategize.

Wheel the Red Balls using the Balanced Wheels in the Wheel Five Gold
software or the book, Lotto Winning Wheels for
Powerball & MEGA Millions. After a few Euromillions drawings, include in your wheel all the virgin
numbers that are yet to be drawn until they have all had at least one win. To give you immediate
access to wheeling systems, you can use the FREE pick-5 multiple-jackpot winning Balanced Wheels
for the Red Balls.

What Are EuroMillions Superdraws?

From time to time, the EuroMillions announces a special EuroMillions Superdraw, which replaces the jackpot at the time and instead takes place with a minimum starting guaranteed jackpot of €100 million. The Superdraw is played in exactly the same manner as the regular EuroMillions lottery – players pick five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. If not won, the Superdraw jackpot rolls over and continues to climb as high as its cap of €200 million, similar to the regular EuroMillions. The jackpot, if still not won, remains at that amount for a maximum of four drawings. When is the next EuroMillions Superdraw? Stay tuned for upcoming announcements!

EuroMillions Superdraw Facts

  • The minimum jackpot is approximately AUD$210 million, no matter how small the previous jackpot was.
  • It costs the same amount to play as a regular EuroMillions draw.
  • The chances of winning are exactly the same as a regular EuroMillions draw.
  • You enter a Superdraw in the same way as a regular draw, just make sure you select the Superdraw when you buy your European Millions tickets.
  • If it’s not won, the jackpot continues to grow until it is won, until it hits the jackpot cap of AUD$320 million.
  • Twice in the past, the Superdraw prize was smaller than the regular jackpot! When this happens, the planned Superdraw is cancelled. In 2014, the normal draw was worth more than the Superdraw’s AUD$160 million. In 2019, the normal draw, at an astounding AUD$305 million, was worth significantly more than the Superdraw’s AUD$160 million.
  • Winnings are tax and commission free.

Until what time can you play EuroMillions?

Can you play EuroMillions in advance?

Millionaire Maker and EuroMillions HotPicks

How do you win a Millionaire Maker prize?

You win if the Millionaire Maker code on your ticket matches the winning code selected on the night. The code consists of four letters and five numbers and you must match it exactly with each digit in the same order. At least one code will be drawn alongside each EuroMillions game and the prize for winning is £1 million.

How does EuroMillions HotPicks work?

In EuroMillions HotPicks, you are able to decide how many numbers you want to try and match, from one up to five. You select your numbers from a pool of 1 to 50 and the winning numbers are the same five main balls from the EuroMillions draw. You must match all the numbers you choose to win the associated prize; you can win £10 for matching just one number or £1 million for matching all five. Go to the EuroMillions HotPicks page to find out more.

How to WIN Euro Millions

Below are a few lotto tips to help you pick euro millions winning combinations, but Gail Howard’s book,
Lottery Master Guide, explains all of her
successful methods of number selection in great detail with examples
of patterns shown throughout.

Lottery numbers are randomly drawn. But randomly drawn numbers form patterns
that can be tracked and used to our advantage. Having carefully analyzed all the
drawings in past lottery results of more than 180 different Lotto games worldwide, with
histories going back as far as 1955, we have verified the following incredibly simple rule:

That which is MOST POSSIBLE happens MOST OFTEN.
That which is LEAST POSSIBLE happens LEAST OFTEN.

The key to Smart Luck’s successful lotto number selection methods is playing
the probabilities. If you play a pattern that occurs only five
percent of the time, you can expect that pattern to lose 95
percent of the time, giving you no chance to win 95 percent of
the time. So, don’t buck the probabilities.

Improving your Odds

There is no practical way to guarantee that you will win the EuroMillions jackpot as you would have to buy every combination of numbers, but there are some ways you can improve your chances of winning.

  • Join a syndicate – In a syndicate, you can enter multiple lines into a draw without increasing the cost of playing. By having a share of multiple lines, rather than just one single line, you improve your chances of winning a prize.
  • Play with random numbers – The odds of a random set of numbers being drawn are just the same as the odds of a more familiar pattern of numbers being drawn. However, prize amounts are partly determined by how many players win, so it is worth trying to choose numbers which have not been picked by anyone else. Many players use significant dates to select numbers – limiting their choice to 31 and under – or just a memorable sequence such as 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. Therefore, if you want to improve your chances of being the sole winner of a prize, choose random numbers greater than 31.

Take Advantage of the Jackpot Cap

The EuroMillions jackpot is capped at €200 million, with excess funds that would have been added to the top prize diverted to next-highest prize tier with any winners. While this technically doesn’t make you a jackpot winner, you could still pick up a seven-figure sum for matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star, and the odds of winning in this prize tier are just 1 in 6,991,908, compared with 1 in 139,838,160 for the jackpot.

On Friday 8th July 2011, six winners in the Match 5+1 tier won £3.3 million (€4.5 million) after the jackpot hit its then cap of €185 million.

Once the jackpot reaches €200 million, it can roll over four times before it either must be won or is rolled down into the next winning prize tier. During these rollovers, any excess funds that would have been added to the jackpot are also rolled down, bringing you a better chance of winning a life-changing prize without having to match all of the numbers drawn. See the Jackpot Cap page for more about how it works.

Play a EuroMillions System

System entries are often best suited to syndicates, as they involve buying a large number of entries for a draw. You would play more a combination of more numbers than the required five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. For example, you might choose to play six main numbers and three Lucky Stars, which would give you more chances to win should your numbers come up.

You can play system entries in Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain, but in the UK and Ireland you will need to create your own by writing down all possible combinations of the numbers you choose and entering them on multiple lines to ensure that they are all covered.

Latest News about EuroMillions Winners

It is a player from UK that won the last EuroMillions jackpot to date:  €87.7 Million!  Well played choosing the numbers 13-15-28-32-44/3-12 at the October 27 draw. The latest Super Jackpot was won on September 25, when the big prize worth €130 Million was scooped by a player from Spain with these lucky numbers: 19-23-34-37-45/1-7. By the way, the next EuroMillons Superdraw was annonced and will start on November 20, 2020. It will offer a starting jackpot of €130 Million!

There is more good news with EuroMillions! This pan-European lottery changed its rules starting February 2020 and now offers more jaw-dropping jackpots and holds more special draws, known as Superdraws. If the past jackpot cap was standing at €190 Million, the threshold is now growing to €200 and even €250 Million. So, don’t miss your chance to participate in the next draw and put in your EuroMillions tickets on LottoSmile!

Lottery Wheels

USE BALANCED WHEEL SYSTEMS

Balanced Wheeling Systems allow you to bet a large group of numbers (more than 5), play scientific combinations of that group of numbers, and get a specific minimum win guarantee.
Balanced Wheels force all the winning numbers that are in your group to come together to give you at least one prize if some or all of the winning numbers are in your chosen group.

It’s true that the more numbers you wheel, the easier it is to trap the winning
numbers in your chosen group. But to get the most leverage for your money, the optimum
number of numbers to wheel is not more than four or five numbers over HALF the numbers
in your game. To beat the odds of winning Euro Millions, your best chance to win is by
wheeling less than about 30 of the 50 total numbers.
Otherwise, you’ll be spending MORE money chasing a SMALLER guaranteed prize.
You benefit more by wheeling a carefully selected group of lotto numbers.

THE BEST WAY TO WHEEL ALL THE LOTTO NUMBERS IN YOUR GAME

Any one wheeling
system that covers ALL the numbers in the game is too spread out, making the win
guarantee not worth the wager. There are smart ways to wheel all the numbers in
the game by using Trap-by-Overlap and other wheeling strategies covered on pages
137 to 142 in Gail Howard’s lotto book, Lottery Master Guide.

Most of Smart Luck’s lottery winners used a Balanced Wheel in addition to her Smart Luck number selection methods.
You can use a FREE interactive Balanced Wheel System that won multiple jackpots.
Read about our lottery winners, too.
And when you win a jackpot with Smart Luck lotto systems, tell us about it so you can be added to Gail Howard’s growing list of winners.
If you don’t want your name publicized, we will honor that.
